“My Rock”
DJ Allen & Righteous
EvoWorld Entertainment (release date: March 6, 2026)

By Robert M. Marovich

DJ Allen & Righteous is a newly-formed quartet of youngsters from Tupelo, Mississippi, and they hit the ground running in a solid way with the single, “My Rock.”

The bouncy drive-tempo track declares that Jesus is a rock in a weary land, all to an infectious backbeat. Allen leads a confessional-style vamp that doubles as a gush of gratitude for conversion. It’s only when the musicians suddenly skid to a stop that the singers bring the song to conclusion; otherwise, they sound as if they could have kept going.

The family quartet calls itself “a new generation of quartet,” and age-wise that’s true, but they evoke the energy of a veteran traditional group. Having worked with the now-late Bishop Kenneth Robinson, lead vocalist DJ Allen knows how to put the message across. The group recently signed with EvoWorld Entertainment, run by Lisa Knowles-Smith, a quartet star in her own right.
