You know it will be a good year when one of the first Picks of the Week for 2023 is a simple, beautiful hymn like “All Things Are Working.”
The hymn, based on Romans 8:28, receives a breathtaking treatment from gospel choir veteran Joe Pace (who also wrote the song), a chorus of superb background singers, and a marvelous over-the-stave feature from soloist Calesta “Callie” Day. It comes together with a sweeping sound as sacred as the act of baptism. A lovely piece destined in time to be picked up by other church choirs.
Pace is pastor of worship for the Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida. The classically-trained vocalist Callie Day is from Atlanta and was a contestant on Season 14 of the television show America’s Got Talent.
