No male quartet lead singers from the Golden Age in this top 10?

Hi, Cies — I agree — we need some of those hard-shouting singers in here. Archie Brownlee, Silas Steele, R.H. Harris, June Cheeks, Ira Tucker, Sam Cooke, who else would you include?

Hi Bod, Solid list with the greatest lead singers in quartet. The only one missing, imo, is Clarence Fountain.
The original topic was about a top ten of all time gospel singers and not about top 10 quartet lead singers, although for some of us that’s the same.
And where is James Cleveland, perhaps not the greatest vocalist of all, but certainly one of, if not the most influential of all.

Good points, Cies. It perplexes me why the gospel and quartet communities are not better connected. I think it has to do with the fact that quartet existed before gospel and after 1970 was sort of swept out of the way by the contemporary artists and choirs.
