“Sunday Kinda Love”
Israel Houghton feat. Aaron Lindsey, PJ Morton, and Nikki Ross
From I’m in Love with a Church Girl
Not the classic 1946 ballad covered famously by the Harptones and Etta James, this “Sunday Kinda Love” finds Israel Houghton and pals Aaron Lindsey, PJ Morton, and Nikki Ross thanking God for bringing them a “Sunday Kinda Love.”
To a melody and rhythm a-buzz with delirious infatuation, the team croons about a love that is “like a classic gospel song: you just have to sing along.”
Gospel fans will delight in the group’s namedropping the Hawkins and Winans families in the lyrics, and even interpolating a note or two from a couple of the families’ classic singles (hint: one is easy to catch; the other, not so much).
The song is from the forthcoming film, I’m In Love with a Church Girl, directed by Steve Race and starring Ja Rule and Adrienne Bailon.  It encapsulates the movie’s premise of the power of love and grace as redemptive forces.  Houghton produced the film, which is due in theaters October 18.

This song has made given me a new perspective on Israel! When I hear this song I literally holla. Being one of those who grew up with the Hawkins and Winan families! The lyric dropping is genius!
