“Clap My Way”
Micah Lee
Micah’s Music (release date: July 19, 2024)

By Robert M. Marovich

Polyrhythms created by an overlap of the shoulder-shaking rhythm section and staccato lyrics make Micah Lee’s “Clap My Way” effective from the very first bar.

“I’ve got bumps in the road,” Lee sings, and it’s his testimony. A major auto accident, along with foot and ankle reconstruction, left Lee having to learn to walk all over again. “But,” he adds, as the background vocalists echo his rhymes, “I’ve got too far to go.”

Lee encourages listeners to praise clap through their complications, and the Pentecostal clap is part of the rhythm. The song oozes joy and optimism, confidence and resilience, and is ready-made for congregation participation.
