“Run But You Can’t Hide”
Sw Washington & Favor
Dynasty Music Group (release date: May 24, 2024)
By Robert M. Marovich
Although the group’s name suggests a male-led small gospel choir, Sw Washington & Favor of Long Island, NY, is a gospel quartet with a downhome, wooden church vibe.
Their single “Run But You Can’t Hide” is designed to lift the congregation to its feet and clap along. A variation on the quartet staple “Can’t Hide Sinner,” “Run” chastises the hypocrites who try to hide their track-record of wrongdoing behind faux-holy behavior. The strutting backbeat continues through the fetching vamp with its litany of evangelizing courtesy of Sw Washington. The musicians literally play the group off the platform.
