“Speak”
Angel Taylor
Awspire Records (release date: August 5, 2022)

By Robert M. Marovich

On “Speak,” Angel Taylor revisits the easy urban contemporary swing of Trin-i-tee 5:7, the award-winning female vocal group of which she was once part.

Whispery vocals, finger popping, and playful beats adorn Travis Finley’s silky love song to Jesus, whose holy presence Taylor feels in her life every day, every way. As a wink to her generation, Taylor incorporates the four-note title line of Donnie McClurkin and the New York Restoration Choir’s 1990 “Speak to My Heart.”

Angel Taylor and Chanelle (Chanel) Haynes, original members of Trin-i-tee 5:7, have each parlayed their experience into solo careers.
