“Where Would I Be”
Bruce V. Allen feat. Kristian Thomas
From the B.A.M.E. EP Come Back (EP release date: February 18, 2024)

By Robert M. Marovich

Recently recovered from a debilitating stroke, Bruce V. Allen of the Florida-based contemporary gospel jazz duo Allen & Allen returns to the scene with “Where Would I Be.”

Notwithstanding Allen’s able contributions in the background, the song, written by Smokie Norful, belongs wholly to the lead vocalist, Kristian Thomas. The daughter of Bishop Leofric and Lady Sandy Thomas of Open Arms Community Church in Jacksonville, Florida, Kristian endows the prayerful lyrics with beauty, simplicity, and dignity. Her voice is an ideal complement to Allen’s smooth jazz foundation.

This young lady is something special! I could have had a number of people to do the vocals on this song and all would have done a fantastic job! But Kristian is a cut above when it comes to singing. I can’t wait for the world to hear this anointed voice! Stay tuned!
