Jokia
From the motion picture soundtrack Love Mountain

By Robert M. Marovich
“Rise,” from California-born gospel singer Jokia Williams, is a prayerful power ballad about the effort needed to overcome life’s complications, and the importance of making the effort. Jokia belts out “Rise” with a sonority that underlines the lyrical sentiments, while the arrangement communicates near Broadway-level drama.
The song is featured on the soundtrack of Love Mountain. The film, by executive producer Kerry Douglas of Blacksmoke Music Worldwide, stars gospel artists such as Earnest Pugh, Pastor Mike Jr., James Fortune, and Zacardi Cortez.
