“He Looked Beyond My Fault”
The Nelons
From the Daywind Records album Loving You
(release date: August 1, 2024)
By Robert M. Marovich
To introduce their breathtaking a cappella cover of “He Looked Beyond My Faults,” The Nelons do something different: they harmonize on the haunting wordless musical motive of the film Titanic.
The beloved Dottie Rambo composition is especially poignant in the wake of the plane crash that took the lives of three of the four members of The Nelons just weeks ago. I wouldn’t be surprised if this arrangement, with its cascading harmonies, enters the repertories of college choirs and ensembles. It would be a fitting memorial to a beloved family gospel group.
