As we recognize that blues and gospel are first cousins, just like jazz and gospel are first cousins, it comes as no surprise that Morganfield is adept in both blues and gospel. Ann Nesby’s “Amen” is not the Wings Over Jordan / Jester Hairston / Lilies of the Field neo-spiritual but a contemporary piece proclaiming, to a bouncy and bracing backdrop, that when things get bad, “don’t give up,” remember who pulled you through, and “say ‘Amen’.”
“Stay Here” – Bri Babineaux
Bri's melodic single “Stay Here” finds the singer showcasing a mature sound, one that can very well sustain her career through the musical fads that pass in and out of the gospel music continuum.
