The Journal of Gospel Music was saddened to learn of the passing of Ms. Katie Sankey, a gospel singer from the rich sacred singing tradition of Jefferson County, Alabama.

Gospel singer Elder Goldwire McLendon passed away on December 17, 2025, at age 95.
